Original Motion Picture Score
The album features the composer’s original score from the feature documentary film, Merchant Ivory, produced and directed by Stephen Soucy in collaboration with Oscar-winner, Director and Screenwriter, James Ivory.
While the film pays tribute to the longest running partnership in the history of cinema—between Oscar-winning director, James Ivory (b. 1928), and legendary producer, Ismail Merchant (1936-2005)—the musical score pays homage to Richard Robbins (1940-2012) who crafted original scores for 24 of the 43 films made by Merchant Ivory Productions spanning three decades. Robbins’ most memorable scores include A Room with a View, Maurice, Mr. and Mrs. Bridge, Howard’s End, and The Remains of the Day.
In the spirit of musical kinship, Homsey's score integrates Robbins' unique blend of musical genres, including contemporary classical, post-minimalism, Indian classical-inspired music, Romanticism, and cinematic film scoring.
